LET THE READING AND WRITING BEGIN!

The Carter Facility was the first to participate in a series of Book Contests which will take place at various facilities through out the state. The youth read and present a book of their choice by acting out a skit, drawing an image, or writing a speech. Each youth has the opportunity to receive a Borders Gift Card. Ms. Francis Miller, Published Author-World of Books Volunteer Program hosted the event at the Carter Facility. 9 youth participated for a prize, but much to their surprise all 9 youth were given gift cards to Borders to purchase books, CD's or magazines. In total the Carter Facility was given $300.00 to support youth in reading and writing.

Next stop is Lower Eastern Shore Children Center on 3-15-11, and Cheltenham Youth Facility on 3-18-11.
