CYF School Partners with Department of Natural Resources - Maryland State Parks

On June 10th. Principal Andy Hubner met with Major Gary Burnett, Ranger Robert Cantin, and Ranger Patrick Bright to discuss how the young men at the CYF School can assist DNR with maintaining park properties and assist with environmental projects. The partnership will officially begin the week of June 16th. The partnership will start with the following projects: youth repairing picnic tables, building planter boxes, repairing signage, growing trees for reforestation, and designing landscapes plans for exhibitions of native species. All projects are integrated into the school day and will be managed by staff from the building trades, horticulture and graphic arts programs.

Future goals include youth teams working at the park clearing trails, installing walk ways, signs and planter boxes, as well as planting tress for reforestation. CYF School also offered to print all of the DNR summer program shirts, as well as produce flyers and other print material through the graphic arts program.
