Obtaining Employment with DJS

Specific classifications utilized only in the Department of Juvenile Services include: (clicking on the titles will take you to the spec sheet)

 Youth Transportation: Officer I; Officer II; Officer, Lead; and Officer, Supervisor

Specifications for the above classifications which are unique to DJS, as well as specifications for classifications utilized state-wide, such as administrative, fiscal-professional, fiscal-clerical, data processing, maintenance, food service and others, are available from the State of Maryland Department of Budget & Management, Office of Personnel Services and Benefits by calling (410) 767-4850.

Tests scheduled for classifications unique to DJS are posted on our website and also on our Job Line (410) 230-3487. A statewide test schedule is listed on DBAM's website. When a test is scheduled for a position which you have interest you must obtain an Application for State Employment and return it to the Department of Budget & Management, OPSB, or the agency responsible for the testing. Applications will be screened for qualifications, and applicants who do not appear to qualify will have a limited time to provide clarification or additional information. Eligible Lists are compiled from test scores. When a state agency has an opening, candidates from the eligible list are contacted for interviews.

When contractual, special appointment, management and executive positions are available in the Department of Juvenile Services they are advertised in local area newspapers, on our website and on our Job Line.
