Charles H. Hickey, Jr., School

2400 Cub Hill Road
Baltimore, MD 21234
410 663-7601

Named for a former Baltimore County Sheriff, the Charles H. Hickey, Jr., School houses young men and boys committed by the court and serves as a detention center for youth awaiting trial.

On June 30, 2005, Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr., ordered the Charles H. Hickey, Jr., School to close and be replaced with a regional detention center as part of a broad plan to reform the Department of Juvenile Services.

We are assessing treatment needs of committed youth; expanding available services; closing all "Impact" units; detailing the education staff to BCJJC; reconfiguring the physical plant, "winterizing" decommissioned areas; closing all Intermediate/Enhanced and Committed programs; and including parents in all phases of youth transition/placement.

For information regarding the Charles H. Hickey, Jr., School, contact Mark Hamlett, Facility Administrator, at 410 663-7700 or hamlettm@djs.state.md.us.
